There is, in fact, a slight paradox inherent in this solution.
It's easy to solve by introducing a small temporal loop: Yomiko arrives at the scene with the Worn-Out Time Machine (which will explode when used). She swaps it with the New Time Machine. While the old one explodes, she takes the New Time Machine to the future and gives it to her (slightly younger) self, along with directions. The slightly younger self uses the New Time Machine until it becomes the Worn-Out Time Machine. The slightly younger self then becomes the Yomiko we had at the start, and swaps the time machines. This Yomiko heads back to just before the point she left from, gives her younger self the New Time Machine and directions, and waits for her to leave. When the younger her has left, Yomiko continues in the timestream as normal.
It's a loop - reminiscent of circular reasoning. But this sequence of events gives us a stable timestream.
(The astute reader will note that circular reasoning implies a Free Lunch paradox: where did Yomiko's directions and time-machine-operating knowledge come from in the first place? The slightly more astute reader will note that it came from the events of the preceding storyline. They had to happen, despite the destruction of the timeline, to give rise to the information necessary for a stable timeline.)
And that, kiddies, is why you never play with time travel!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the marvelous magical Erin will now attempt to juggle six topics at once!
*ahem*
One: Our heroes' minds. Brain chemistry is different at different ages. Children tend to be more impulsive, and the younger ones have less capacity for abstract thinking. Older brains tend to be more connected and grounded; conflicts of the "my head says this but my heart says that!" nature are less common. So that's beginning to take effect.
Two: Doctor Who. The one who appeared was Six, who's the most abraisive of the lot. But all of them have that British wit. And, given Alucard's age (which is on the same scale as that of the Doctor), he's bound to have run into him before.
Three: (Austria-)Hungary. My head's full of European History at the moment (just took the AP exam today); I sketched that particular comic shortly after a lesson on the era, because I thought it was the kind of thing Heinkel (being Austrian) should know. And, hey, I have a Hungarian reader! Cool =D
Four: The elephants. Muahahahaha. Any Emma fan would catch on here. (I TOLD people to go read that series . . .)
Five: Hakim. Yes, this was Xu's brilliant idea. It's probably the one twist he wrote into the original plan that never got changed. And it got me into Emma, too =D
Six: Pairings. NenenexYomiko = my ROD OTP. Also, MaggiexFaye (from the Read or Dream manga). Because my heart melts when I read those chapters. I read the manga first (the first ROD volume is in English now, hooray!), before the OVA, so Nenene beats out Nancy in my scheme of Yomiko's affections. Of course, Yomiko will have to compete with all of Nenene's other fans - including Yumie, because whether you normally go for fluffy romance or blood and gore, Nenene's awesomeness as a writer will suck you in.
(And now, watch closely, ladies and gentlemen, as she adds a seventh!)
Seven: Hakim's death. And the resulting paradox. For this, all I have to say is: Muahahahahaha.

It's the scene that Nenene was working on when she first met Yomiko ^_^ Never having been kissed, she was struggling with the wording - then Yomiko burst in, hoping for an autograph - so Nenene did the logical thing and smooched her. Inspiration followed. (You see why this is an OTP of mine )

Alex just attacked with barriers (pieces of paper with some kind of holy incantation/design on them, which, when tacked over a door or window, prevent vampires from passing through).
No, the power in this paper is all Yomiko's own ^_~

Turns out it was subconsciously lifted from one of the Chibi Hellsing Moments. All has been settled as far as that goes, though ^_^

The style in the flashback was supposed to remind you of the last Christmas storyline, because it was from the same Christmas. Although the tree was still Seuss-style. Just a tie-in =)

Aaaaand a few more: I 'm having too much fun with these ^_^ (The fourth one in the first batch, by the way, is from a strip that you won't see for a month. Call it a sneak preview.) And, yes, everyone should feel free to use my art for the contest. . . . nobody hyperventilate because of my appearance, now! I'm just a mere mortal, like yourselves ^_^; ~Erin

This is why we all thought Van Helsing was Integral's great-grandfather for a long time.
It's a narrative cliché: fathers being impossibly old. (Pirates of Dark Water, anyone? =3) In this case, it looks like it happened two generations in a row.

I do believe this is the most remarked-on Shine strip ever.
The idea had been languishing for years (literally!) as a single-panel sketch in my files . . . but my art's improved so much that I decided to try to draw it out. And, wow, apparently I touched a nerve =D Forum posts, LJ posts, emails, guestbook comments . . .
I do believe I will do this again =3
