I don't know about the anime, since I've only seen 3 episodes, but I know that the manga is chockful of pop culture references. I've spotted quite a few and would like to know if any of you guys have seen 'em, too.

This is something I have to ponder about...
One thing I noticed is this....some reviews say it takes place during the sixties....but that's wrong! Why? We didn't have computers back then! Some things there were too advanced!

I'm not sure about pop culture references, Doc, but I did a post a while back asking what 'in depth' stuff anyone's caught in Hellsing. Some of that was pretty interesting. Of course, it was my Hellsing-obsessed b/f who figured most of them out. (Surprise, surprise.) What pop culture references have you found? I know 'Clockwork Giant Pandas' has to refer to SOMETHING, but it might be Japanese culture, which is why it'd make no sense to me.

So, you guys didn't pick up on the Star Wars references, the Dune references, and Bruce Willis/The Jackal (film)?
Oh, and there are a lot more references, too. Stuff you didn't think Kohta would know about.

Oh, I know. I just wanted to see if anyone else caught any of those or other references. Did anyone else think of Gambit or Sammy Davis Jr. when you first saw Alhambra?

Definitly thought of Gambit on that one.

I just found out that Kohta may very well be a Marilyn Manson fan. I read a thread at BK Luke and Jan's Corner, and it makes sense now. I'll have to verify this for myself (not a Manson fan, so yeah...)

Wait, there were "Star Wars references, the Dune references, and Bruce Willis/The Jackal" references?
I hate to say it, but I missed all of them. Can someone at least point out to me some of the Dune references? I've read all 6 books, but didn't see any.

Well, for Dune, how about the name of Seras's cannon, the Harkonnen? Also the spirit of the Harkonnen is Baron Harkonnen from Dune. Her second gun is called Vladimir Harkonnen.
