Yes, but weren't those pieces of paper bearing Holy Writ? (Not that I have too much experience of the anime or the manga ...) It's not quite the same.

Yes, they were holy. Good point.

Yomiko's paper likely follows the same rules as The Dandy's cards: if she cuts him with a piece, the wound isn't going to heal normally because there's magic at work there. Yomiko is an "avatar" of paper and books (in White Wolf terms you could say she has "True Belief - Books"). As such, anything she does with paper is hoopy. Enough to give Alucard considerable trouble since he's never fought someone like her before.
Break down the relative powers:
Alucard's guns -> Yomiko can easily block bullets. Nulled.
Alucard's shapeshifting / "doggy attack" -> Yomiko can encase him in a solid ball of paper (as she just did here). Nulled.
Alucard's swarm attack -> Yomiko lets loose a storm of paper (see ep 3 of the OVA). Nulled.
Alucard's Restriction Level 0 Mega Attack -> Yomiko unleashes a hurricane of paper that can destroy large buildings. Nulled.
The two are more evenly matched then they first appear. And if Yomiko starts using Bible pages, she would likely win. But with mundane paper, she would fight him to a standstill in that everything he could do to attack she could block and eventually the wound she could inflict on him would weaken him so he'd have to retreat.
And this has nothing to do with my belief that Yomiko is the hottest anime female of all time (Integra is a close second). I swear!

Heh heh heh ... I just looooove the Tuesday installment! ^^ (Did I mention I don't like Alucard that much?) But I see one very simple counter to Yomiko's powers; all Alucard needs is some matches and some patience, or maybe incendiary bullets. Paper burns. Of course he'd take some hits himself, but I doubt it'd be enough to kill him ... *unfortunately*

Alex just attacked with barriers (pieces of paper with some kind of holy incantation/design on them, which, when tacked over a door or window, prevent vampires from passing through).
No, the power in this paper is all Yomiko's own ^_~

For all that Anderson's a psycho, at least his way of stopping a vampire from passing a doorway beats another one I've heard of ... -_-; Yuck.

Of course he'd take some hits himself, but I doubt it'd be enough to kill him ... *unfortunately* That's been tried. However, as was revealed in the ROD manga, Yomiko is a strong enough paper user that she can reconstitute paper that's been burned or vaporized, allowing her to literally form paper shields out of thin air if a book is burned near her. So incendiary bullets would only allow him to stave off the flow temporarily; in moments Yomiko would be back at full strength. There's also the fact that vampires tend to be weak against fire, so starting a major firestorm with paper that Yomiko could then turn against him would be a tactical error.

Oh, well, and I wouldn't want Alucard to go down in a firestorm, now would I ...? Nyeh heh heh ... But seriously, how much time would he need? A short reprieve would be enough for him to zip behind Yomiko and backstab her. I don't recall her being physically tough, just mystically powerful. ... And with Alucard's punk personality, he probably wouldn't mind taking some damage from fire, just to get at his target.

Okay, today's (Thursday's) last comment by Integral in the third panel is priceless! ^^
[edit] Friday: *snort* Walter wants that autograph, doesn't he? ^^;

Her reaction speed is quick enough that she can put a piece of paper between herself and a bullet *after* the gun has been fired. About the only way Alucard could really win it hands down is to distract her with books or something. There just aren't that many characters who could match Yomiko in terms of power.

It's a battle of the fans! ^^ And on a sidenote; Ms. Erin's portrayal of the Hellsing characters is much more sympathetic than the Hellsing manga's or anime's. In plain English: I like them so much more ...
[Friday] Yes, that little comment at the end was really needed, otherwise Pip would've asked Seras how long she'd been a clone, wouldn't he? ^^

; *blush* Did ... that ever happen in RoD? No, but it happens in the manga. They toned down that aspect for the anime.
